Job Title: Children’s Ministry Coordinator
Purpose Statement:
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator position exists, along with the pastoral team and families, to lead KIDS to know and trust Jesus. The Children’s Ministry Coordinator organizes and supports the vision of family discipleship at Castleton Community Church. This role reports to and serves alongside the Director of Family Ministries role that oversees family & children’s discipleship.
Ministry Coordination & Responsibilities:
- Weekly coordination of Sunday morning volunteers (including key holidays)
- Prepare, organize, and clean classrooms for weekly ministry (being mindful of other church events)
- Schedule and fill volunteer roles on Sunday mornings with trained and engaged volunteers
- Manage and fill volunteer positions when volunteers call off because of sickness or emergencies (which regualarlly happens on Fridays and Saturdays)
- Onboard new volunteers and regularly support volunteers preparing for Sunday ministry
- Reinforce and help develop best ministry and safety procedures in the classrooms
- Coordinate and support Castleton KIDS events & curriculum calendar along with the Director of Family Ministries including: Child Dedications, Yearly Volunteer Training, Move-up Sunday, Spring Social, Summer Children’s Outreach (WOW)
- Help the pastoral team identify future leaders and prepare and equip these people for leadership roles within the ministry
- Support related events at Castleton: Request and schedule volunteers for other Castleton events where childcare is offered (i.e., Congregational Meetings, special services/classes)
- Complete various housekeeping items related to ministry such as dishes, supply management and laundry
General Responsibilities:
- Assist with the administration of the elder’s vision for family and children’s discipleship
- Intentionally support Castleton parents in their ministry of discipling their children
- Help pastors evaluate curriculum and culture to ensure goals are being met
- Work to strengthen the partnership between the church and parents including helping with communication via quarterly KIDS eNews and parent training events
- Complete any additional tasks delegated down from director or pastoral staff
Candidate Requirements:
- A heart to see the church help parents disciple their children in the Lord
- Must exhibit mature Christian character including regular disciplines such as: Bible reading, prayer, and faithful participation in church life
- Must be a current or future member of Castleton Community Church
- High sense of responsibility and ownership of tasks assigned
Education & Skill Requirements:
- Teaching experience or other opportunities to work with children preferred
- Familiarity and alignment with Castleton Community Church’s culture and mission
- Willing to learn and use Planning Center, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Adobe
Work Schedule:
- This is a part-time position, no benefits offered, approximately 15-25 hours weekly
- Weekly Sunday attendance and attendance at regular and special church meetings is expected
- Weekends include managing volunteer emergency call-offs
- Attendance at monthly staff meetings
