Job Title: Children’s Ministry Director
Purpose Statement:
The Children’s Director position exists, along with the pastoral team and families, to lead KIDS from infancy to sixth grade to know and trust Jesus. The Children’s Ministry Director organizes and implements all elements related to children’s ministry and events. This role reports to and serves alongside the Associate Pastor that oversees family & children’s discipleship.
Responsibilities:
- Interview, onboard, train, and equip volunteers to carry out Castleton Community’s vision for discipleship of the next generation
- Schedule and fill volunteer roles in nursery through sixth grade on Sunday mornings with trained and engaged volunteers
- Regularly communicate and support volunteers preparing for Sunday ministry
- Regularly connect and communicate with other church leaders to develop and implement best ministry and safety practices
- Identify future leaders and prepare and equip these people for leadership roles with the ministry
- Coordinate, communicate, and work alongside staff and pastors in a team setting
Ministry Coordination Includes:
- Overseeing all elements related to Sunday morning children’s ministry including:
- Classroom experience Implementation of Gospel Project curriculum
- Preparing physical spaces associated with classes on Sunday morning
- Parent communication
- Leadership and physical presence on Sunday mornings
- Responding to volunteer requests
- Facilitating a fun, worshipful, and relational environment in and around the classrooms on Sunday morning
- Plan and lead regularly occurring children’s events: Yearly Volunteer Training, Move-up Sunday, Spring Social, Summer Children’s Outreach
- Support related events at Castleton: childcare for congregational meetings, Special Services & classes, along with assisting with children’s choir
- Regularly evaluate curriculum and culture to ensure goals are being met
General Responsibilities:
- Attend staff meetings and church events required for this position
- Assist with the development and application of the elder’s vision for children’s discipleship
- Work to strengthen the partnership between the church and parents including communication via quarterly KIDS eNews and parent training events
- Complete any additional tasks delegated down from pastoral staff
Candidate Requirements:
- Requires technical skill to use Planning Center, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Adobe
- Requires strong leadership ability, communication skills (written and verbal), and an ability to make decisions independently
- Candidate must exhibit mature Christian character including regular disciplines such as: Bible reading, prayer, and faithful participation in church life
- Candidate must be a current or future member of Castleton Community Church
Education & Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in a related field.
- Teaching experience or other opportunities to work with children preferred
- Child development training, bachelor’s degree or seminary training preferred
- Familiarity and alignment with Castleton Community Church’s culture and mission
Work Schedule:
- This is a part-time position, no benefits offered, 25 hours weekly as needed
- Weekly Sunday attendance and attendance at regular and special church meetings expected
- Attendance to monthly staff meetings required
