Service Project Information

During the Week of Wonder, all participants will be doing a service project in partnership with Life Centers. Castleton KIDS will be making knotted fleece blankets that Life Centers will share with infants and children in need. Castleton KIDS welcomes any donations of fleece for our project. A container is located in the Commons area of the church. Fleece should be "kid-friendly" with bright colors and/or fun patterns. All pieces of fleece fabric should be 1/2 sq. yard or larger in size. Please place all donations in the container no later than Sunday, June 13th.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will be taught?

Everyday will have a rotating schedule that includes games, crafts, and an age appropriate lesson about who Jesus is and how He is different than anyone we have ever known.

Monday: Jesus is Creator and holds power over all He has created.

Tuesday: Jesus is Provider. He provides for us in abundance.

Wednesday: Jesus is the Great Physician. He heals and sustains in pain.

Thursday: Jesus is boundless. He reaches any person that comes to Him.

Friday: Jesus is the Great Conqueror and has power over life and death.

Is Week of Wonder free?

Yes! We want this week to be a gift to the children and families of our community. There is no charge to attend the Week of Wonder!

Will food be served at Week of Wonder?

Pre-packaged snacks will be served at Week of Wonder each day. All snacks will be nut-free. Be sure to mark if your child has any allergies on the registration form. If your child has other dietary restrictions, you may send a pre-packaged snack with your child in place of the snack offered. We encourage all children to bring a labeled water bottle each day.

Castleton Community Church invites parents/guardians to bring lunch and a blanket with you at check-out. Once you have picked up your child, join us on the front lawn for a picnic and fellowship each day, weather permitting.

What about Covid restrictions and safety?

At Castleton Community Church, we seek to always keep our church family and volunteers safe. Keeping this in mind, all classrooms will be cleaned at the end of each day with approved cleaners, snacks will be pre-packaged to avoid unnecessary food handling, and frequent hand washing will be encouraged. Masks will not be required of volunteers or children, but are available if desired. Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the premises. If a Covid case is identified, procedures are in place to notify parents of exposure and affected parties will be asked to remain at home when ill.

*We ask that parents perform checks of children at home everyday and keep children home when they exhibit signs of illness.

How do I check my child in?

Check in and check out procedures will be communicated by email prior to the start of Week of Wonder. Please contact Jenny Johnson for any other scheduling changes.

What should my child wear?

Children should anticipate lots of outdoor time (weather permitting) with active games and hands on crafts being part of the daily agenda. Wear clothes and tennis shoes appropriate for outdoor play. Messes are inevitable. Clothes should be modest and appropriate for an environment with children of all ages present. Swimsuits will not be necessary for Week of Wonder.

*Please put sunscreen on your child prior to check in.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

Castleton Community Church has several indoor spaces. Activities will be held indoors if weather prohibits us from being outside.

How will I know what my child learned each day?

Everyday your child will leave with a Week of Wonder Lesson Sheet. This paper will contain the big idea of the lesson from the day, the verses that were read, and questions to facilitate discussion with your child.
