Job Title: Pastoral Resident
Purpose Statement:
The Pastoral Resident serves as a part-time member of the church staff, for a three to four-year cycle of supervised development. Under the mentorship of the Elders, the resident will gain ministry experience through service within the church, putting into practice the training received in seminary.

- Member in good standing of Castleton Community Church or another gospel preaching church.
- Possesses an internal call toward vocational ministry.
- Calling confirmed by leadership of applicant’s local church.
- Eager to learn, receive instruction, and be mentored for pastoral ministry
- Has character consistent with the qualifications for an elder as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-5.
- Ability to teach biblical truth, and desire to do so for the good of the church.
- Diligent in study of the scriptures and sound theological works.
- Able to plan, cast vision, and lead ministry teams and initiatives.
- Has a strong work ethic, seeking to maximize ministry effectiveness at all times.
- Team player that can thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and volunteers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Student Ministry
- Builds relationships with member families and students in the 7-12th grade range.
- Invests in existing student ministry volunteer team.
- Casts vision for next stage of Student Ministry to students, families, and volunteers. (2026 & beyond)
- Responsible for all volunteer recruitment and training.
- Teaches students clear and highly contextualized bible lessons on a weekly basis at Rooted Student Ministry (Sunday evenings)
- Manages the student ministry calendar.
- Point person for all student ministry events and initiatives.
- Offers soul care and encouragement to volunteers, families and students.
- Manages Student Ministry budget.
- Strives to make students feel welcomed, wanted, and an important part of the church body at Castleton Community Church
- Seminary Studies
- Takes a full-time course load at Indianapolis Theological Seminary, maintaining a 3.33 GPA or higher.
- Participates in a cohort of interns and residents for fellowship, accountability and mutual encouragement.
- Completes assigned readings, writings, and projects as assigned by Lead Pastor.
- Ministry Development
- Performs other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor.
- Preaches and teaches as part of the Pastoral Staff team
- Preaches on Sunday morning 1-2 times a year at CCC.
- Seeks out pulpit supply opportunities at other like-minded churches.
- Periodically leads congregational worship elements: Prayer, Announcements, Communion, Scripture Reading, Benediction.
- Regular discipleship meetings with the Lead Pastor.
- Participates in hands-on learning opportunities as able (visitation, counseling, adult education, worship leading).
- Attends annual conferences and/or ministry development opportunities as able.
- Works toward Ordination in the final year of residency.
- Attends Bi-weekly staff meetings.
- Attends Elder Meetings as invited.
- Misc Duties
- Performs other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree Required.
- Track record of membership and service in a local church.

- Annual salary (Expected average of 20 hours per week, exempt from overtime)
